The Fox Social Club softball team, What The Fox, rallied hard against Mother Foxers in the early innings during their Wednesday night game, only to lose, 17-7. Despite the loss, they played really well that night.
The infield defense was strong and showed lots of potential, with Jayme Smith on 1st, Mallory Ball on 2nd, Amy Green on 3rd, and Siku Thompson and Michelle Duran switching off at Home Plate! The outfield did fairly well, but still need to work on communicating more with one another!
Batting improved as well! What The Fox scored 5 runs in one inning which tied up the game! However, their hopes and dreams for a "win" was crushed due to the Coach's last minute changes in the infield and outfield positions, which resulted in the other team scoring 10 runs in their last 2 at bats.
There were also two slide collisions resulting in minor injuries to two What The Fox players: Siku Thompson, rookie catcher starter, suffered a collision at home with an overzealous baserunner and Ben Wilson at 2nd was bowled over by a kamikaze Mother Foxers team member.
What The Fox also sported some new uniforms on Wednesday’s game. When asked about their opinions on the new look, some team members seemed to react better than others, “Jiminy, I feel like I should be an extra in a bar scene from the Real Housewives of New Jersey…” – Ben Wilson
Overall, What The Fox ranks 19th in the league. The team have also compiled a collective -75 Run Differential, but their last performance has shown glimmers of promise.

Moore than a Hangover
Scott Moore, co-writer of The Hangover served up valuable information to Fox Social Club on Wednesday. While giving some sobering details about bidness of screenwriting, Scott also mixed in an optimistic insight for those considering jumping into the fray.
Scott was an Econ major at Univ of Colorado. He also took a lot of film courses. Because the dept was so small at the time it afforded him the opportunity to try many things. He moved out to La La Land to try his hand at producing. Scott described it as being a lotta hard work but he wasn’t too successful. While working in development, he learned a co-worker, Jon Lucas, was also a writer. They decided to collaborate and sold their first project. Albeit for a small amount. Feeling a relationship that delivers is one worth continuing, they stuck with it.
And with it.
They wrote a script that would capture the interest of the town and a substantial payday from Warner Bros. The two have worked on 27 Dresses, Wedding Crashers and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. While now the toast of the town, Scott and Jon have been working together for ten years.
Scott remains grounded, pragmatic and optimistic. It doesn’t hurt that he’ll be receiving a large paycheck for The Hangover 2, get this, while someone else will be writing the screenplay.
Scott fielded questions from the group ranging from writing styles to setting career paths. He stressed the need for perseverance and felt the best scripts would eventually rise to the top.
So, there you go. Quit whining and get back to work!

Pilot to Tower
What’s the best benefit of joining a club? Camaraderie? A sense of belonging? Getting cool stuff non-club members don’t get? Yeah, that’s it – the snob factor. Fox Social Club continued its streak of petty jealousy inducing activities with the start of the lunchtime pilot series.
For the past few weeks, FSC has been showing completed productions for the 2009 pilot season. All commercial free! But not all of the screeners were picked up for series. Still feeling special? It’s not a reject, consider them first runner up. Or maybe 13th runner up, depending out how many shows made it but FSC members who attend will always be able to say they saw something, 99.99999% of the world’s population didn’t. Nor ever will. Yeah, so there!
Monday, came an entry that did get ordered into series, 100 Questions. No, not a game show but a half hour sitcom. It stars some English broad. Sofie Winkleman. If you haven’t heard of her it’s probably because you live in America. Sofie plays Charlotte, a woman who goes to a dating service to find romance. In kind of a How I Met Your Mother framework, the interviewer asks Sofie a question, in this case “Are you honest,” that prompts Sofie to recall an event from her life that qualifies her answer. From there, we’re intro’d to the five, 20-something, main cast members who live and play in NYC. NO, it’s not just like Friends. Friends had six main cast members. Anyway, tune in each week as Charlotte counts them down to #1.
Following the screening of the 100 Questions, which’ll air at least once on NBC this fall season, three people won some cool stuff. Yay, more snobbery! Literally cool, as in two got gift certificates for Ben & Jerry’s. The third received a collectable, (it only becomes a toy if you take it out of the box), for AVP. That’s Alien vs Predator, for you nerds. Wait, if you’re a nerd you’d already know what it means. That prize was donated by a couple of people in the club. One of whom nearly won said prize in the drawing. Sorry ladies, I’ll get names next time. Big ups to Ben & Jerry’s for their continued support of the club.

Monday TV Pilot Screenings
“Mondays are not all bad!” On June 15th, the Fox Social Club began its ‘Monday Television Pilots’ series, where FSC members screened the pilots to various network television shows that may (or may not) air in the Fall 2009 season. So far, FSC members have previewed the latest action, comedy and drama series including: the new sitcom, ‘Modern Family’, the action series, ‘Human Target’, the legal and medical dramas, ‘The Deep End’ and ‘Maggie Hill’ and the sci-fi remake of the 80s classic, ‘V’.
